Patrick Piemonte
Patrick Piemonte is an American inventor, technologist, and user experience researcher best known for his contributions to Apple’s iOS operating system, for which he has received 33 patents.

Piemonte’s contributions to iOS include location-based services, the motion sensing framework that leverages the gyroscope, the digital compass with ability to view True North, geocoding services, Flyover rendering, 3D maps rendering, turn-by-turn navigation rendering, multi-touch gestures for 2D and 3D map interaction (panning, pinching, rotating, and two-finger tilting), grid line rendering under a data-less map, and detection and rendering of night mode.〔
